Speak Up: Reader warns of local scam, others debate handicapped stickers

About the handicap stickers: I am sorry, but if you can walk, you do not need to park in handicap parking. Didn't your doctor tell you, exercise is good for you. And if you are overweight, all the more reason you need to walk. Suck it up and save those parking spaces for the elderly who really need them.

My mom has a handicapped sticker because she had half a lung taken out.

H1N1 shot: All workers were fast, kind and very pleasant. Kudos to all.

Re Sarah Palin and Fox News: A match made in heaven. The other two networks were too smart to hire her.

Scam alert: There is a woman approaching cars at restaurants and retailers asking for money for a hotel room. After she gets the money, she gets in a car with a guy and they go to another parking lot.

Re the purse stolen at church: Why would you carry $600 with you anywhere?

Why doesn't the city's forestry division cut down and remove the fallen and dead trees around municipal stadium? Do it now before spring.

I learned long ago that there were three requirements for people who wrote to this column — they couldn't construct a simple sentence, they couldn't spell and they had no knowledge of the subject on which they were expounding.

Springfield: A great park system folks don't support, bike trails they don't exercise on, a world-class Summer Arts Festival they don't attend, a free Cultural Connections Series they don't attend, architecture so grand that Springfield has more pages in Ohio tourism books than any other city in our state — I could go on forever, but you get the idea.

Negative comments about Springfield on the News-Sun Web site: They need to make their comments around their own kitchen tables and stop maligning this wonderful community that is doing everything possible to create a high quality of life for its citizens.
