Hot Rods & Harleys is hitting the road.

The annual event presented by Mid-Ohio Harley Davidson starts a new era by “cruisin’ through the cliffs,” as the tagline goes, and settling in Veteran’s Park when it returns 2-11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.

Hot Rods & Harleys is a free event.

“We think it’s going to play out better in the park atmosphere with more trees and the stage into an all-around better event,” said Mid-Ohio’s Brian Cubbage.

While the setting is different, visitors can expect what has made the event popular for a decade with several hundred classic cars and countless motorcycles.

Live music from the L.A. Band and Above the Law will come from the Turner Pavilion stage. Food trucks and cold beverages will also be for sale, and select community vendors will be set up.

Another highlight will be the raffle of a new 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Raffle tickets cost $10 each or three for $20 and can be purchased from Mid-Ohio Harley Davidson.

A few tickets may be available at the event, but Cubbage suggests purchasing ahead of time.

Cubbage said past Hot Rods & Harleys events have averaged about 4,000 people and as long as people are still eager to see the classic cars and motorcycles, they’ll be glad to oblige.

“People look forward to it every year. It brings the community together,” he said.

Parking will be available at the Springfield Museum of Art and the Kissell Center lot and shuttles will run all day to those areas. Anyone participating in the event is asked to use the park’s Plum Street entrance.
