A brand new series of food truck events will give dogs and their humans plenty to chew on.

A Waggin's Wagon and about 10 other food trucks will be featured at the first of Miamisburg Food Truck Rallies' events at Star City Brewing Company, 319 S.  Second St.

The first event will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 11.

Lisa Skidmore, a 1989 Oakwood High School graduate who moved to Springfield about a year ago, launched A Waggin's Wagon in November.

She is refining her treat recipes, but says there will be vegetarian and meat options to cater to every dog, including those with food allergies.

“I am going to be serving treats to dogs instead of humans,” Skidmore said. “They will be all-natural and handmade, no artificial ingredients.”

One of the treats, the Elvis, will be made of peanut butter, bananas and oatmeal.

The long-time dog walker for Rover.com says she is using friends’ dogs as taste testers even though they can’t exactly tell her what they think.

Skidmore first became interested in food trucks in her 20s. She decided to open a food truck for dogs after reading about a similar company on the west coast.

“People are crazy about their dogs, and a lot of times, they bring them to food truck rallies,” said Skidmore, who grew up with a toothless German Shepard named Nicky.

Aside from food truck rallies, Skidmore hopes to set up at dog parks and work with veterinarian offices and on fundraisers with rescue groups. She is also devising a coconut oil salve for dog paws.

Miamisburg Food Truck Rallies is the latest series of food truck rallies from the group that first organized the Yellow Cab Food Truck Rally series.

The group also holds monthly rallies in Xenia and Springfield.

Brian Johnson, one of the group’s organizers, said the Miamisburg rallies will be held each second Saturday of the month through Oct. 10.
