Music legend Stevie Wonder, Chance the Rapper among star-studded lineup at Gem City Shine

Dave Chappelle brought a few of his friends to Dayton on Sunday to shine some light after the darkness.

Rumors were swirling for days about who would perform at Gem City Shine, a party hosted by Chappelle that brought more than 20,000 people to the streets of the Oregon District for a massive celebration and night of healing.

STEVIE WONDER

Music icon Stevie Wonder was the headliner of the event. Among his hits, he performed “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” “I Wish” and “Sir Duke.”

CHANCE THE RAPPER

Chance the Rapper came and played several songs, ending with blessings and talking about the strength and resilience of Dayton.

TALIB KWELI

Talib Kweli performed several songs and this is when the crowd really started to pack in.

TEYANA TAYLOR

Teyana Taylor performed and danced with backup dancers and held her daughter in her arms as images of the victims from the Dayton shooting played on the big screens on the stage and on the corner of 5th and Wayne. She got emotional and cried while her daughter helped her sing into the microphone while memorial footage played.

JON STEWART

Jon Stewart came out with Dave Chapelle and talked about the resilience of Dayton, and they discussed the last time they had been together was while performing in NYC shortly after the Charlottesville tragedy.

OTHER PERFORMERS

Other performers included Grammy winners Thundercat, who opened the show and played jazz/funk.
