Formed in 1989 as a side-project for Dayton original, Kim Deal, while her other band, Pixies, were on a hiatus, The Breeders quickly became a household name. With 1990’s “Pod” and 1993’s “Last Splash,” the Breeders became icons of the era’s alternative rock explosion.

Organizers expect high interest in the show, so fans should plan to arrive early. The concert will be at 7 p.m.

Wagner said the Deal sisters were involved in the planning of the Levitt Pavilion. Their brother, Kevin Deal, is a member of the Friends of Levitt Pavilion Dayton board of trustees.

Like all others acts that perform at the venue, the Breeders will be compensated for their 90 minute performance, organizers say.
