Chamber music for a Sunday afternoon will set the mood when the Springfield Symphony Orchestra’s Live Wire youth ensembles return to perform for the Sanctuary Series.

Two string ensembles, a percussion ensemble and a woodwind ensemble, will take the stage at 3 p.m. Sunday at High Street United Methodist Church.

The show is free, but free-will offerings will be accepted to support the series. The Sanctuary Series offers monthly performances and concerts for no cost.

“We have started to include this concert on the series not only to support the Springfield Symphony’s educational outreach program but (also), more importantly, to showcase the youth who represent our future musicians and supporters of the arts in our community,” said J. Chris Moore, High Street’s musical director of traditional worship.

The student musicians in the Live Wire ensembles are selected from respective sections within the larger ensembles of the youth symphony to promote and support chamber music in its broadest sense.

Participating musicians will include Bonnie Burgess-Gay, Aaron Benjamin, Adina Taylor, Caitlin Boblitt, Skyler Miller, Carol Raquet, Lydia Taylor, Lucas Hung, Anwyn Ashley, Stella Conrad and Drew Speas.

A reception in the church commons will follow the performance.
