WKEF-TV, the local ABC affiliate, will run a half-hour special before the show that will include a behind-the-scenes look at the TV show’s weeklong building project in Beavercreek, in which more than a thousand volunteers participated.
James, a civilian computer specialist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and Shannon Terpenning got a knock on the front door July 30 from the show. The family was given a paid vacation to Disney World while volunteers, Beavercreek home builder Coventry Fine Homes and the show’s team worked around the clock for nearly a week to build them a new house at 548 Carthage Drive.
The family has four children: Josselyn, 6; twins Justin and Jacob, 2; and Joshua, 1. James’ adopted brother Joseph, who has cerebral palsy, also lives with the family.
