A former student of the Ohio Performing Arts Institute will give back when the Springfield Ballet Theatre presents its fall dance concert.
Alexandra Wallace was about 4 years-old when she started dancing at OPAI. Fresh out of college and touring with a professional dance company, she came back to choreograph two new pieces for the Institute’s 14 dancers.
The performance will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-12, at the Ohio Performing Arts Institute, 1616 E. High St.
“We’re really proud of Alexandra and what she’s done,” said D. Scot Davidge, OPAI artistic director. “We must be doing something right here.”
Wallace graduated from Catholic Central and recently from the University of Missouri — Kansas City. She’s currently touring with Quixotic Cirque Noveau, a performance art group.
Davidge said several of the Institute’s dancers go on to become professional dancers and others pursue different paths, but most leave with a lifelong love of dance.
“Some of the pieces will be signatures of our company, some new and a duet,” he said of the upcoming shows.
All of the Springfield Ballet Theatre’s dancers will also perform in the 27th annual performance of the holiday staple “The Nutcracker,” Dec. 16-17 at the Clark State Performing Arts Center.
