2018 World’s Ugliest Dog contestant Ozzie: Ozzie is a 9-year-old Chinese Pug that was adopted from Tiny Paws Pug Rescue in August of 2017. His new owners had lost their Pug Grovie after 13 years. Ozzie and his late sister Kaiya had been in the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest for many years since 2008. It was never about winning but we live to participate. Grovie was always a hit dressing up as a Sailor, Ewok, Chicken, but the favorite was his Jailor’s costume. Ozzie is part of a family menagerie, which includes all of the following: a male German Shepard, Baron, female Chihuahua, Poochie, black female Pug, Meyli, mail Siamese cat, Balii, female grey tabby, Nutmeg, and now a male Budgie, Sweet Baby James, rescued after a fire. Immediately, Ozzie fit right in. He needed to have 13 teeth pulled right away, so now his tongue slips out the side. All three little dogs sleep on the ben in the middle between the adopted couple. At bedtime, it is a race to get in the bed first, otherwise, the humans get no covers! Ozzie dressed up like a hippie for a Paws for love event (Summer of Puppy Love) in August. In November for the Silver Paws for Vets adoption event, he dressed up as the WWII hero Dog, Sergeant Stubby. He is so easy going. Nothing seems to phase him. He loves people. His family hopes one day he can be a therapy dog. His family is please introduce him to the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest, so he can strut his stuff and have fun on the red carpet on June 23, 2018. It will be in Grovie and Kaiy’s memory and also all the past participants, winners and losers who have gone over the rainbow bridge.
