The shoot will be something of a home-field advantage for Hasting, a 2006 Northwestern graduate.
“We knew we wanted to film there,” she said during an interview with the News-Sun in August. “The school welcomed us and that date worked into our schedule. It will be good to be home again.”
The Kate Hasting Band was named an Emerging Artist at the Country Music Association Fan Fair Fest in Nashville over the summer. The video will be another step up.
Hasting, who wrote “Behind the Bleachers” with band mate Josh Beale, said the song captures the lighter side of the high school experience, and Northwestern has the right atmosphere to bring it to life.
Attendees can sign up to be part of the video or just to watch the filming. Release forms will also be available at the football stadium starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
The band has already received many release forms from students, fans and interested community members.
Although a lot of footage will be shot, participants should keep in mind they may not necessarily be seen in the final video, which is at the discretion of the video’s producers to fit into the song’s 3-minute, 39-second running time.
Aspiring video stars or not, anybody can remember the night with a commemorative t-shirt. Northwestern’s Warrior Store will sell the shirts throughout the evening.
Shirts cost $10 and are available in red or blue in adult and youth sizes. Proceeds will go to various Northwestern programs.
Hasting encourages everybody to be part of the fun.
“We’d love as many people to come see what we’re doing as possible,” said Hasting.
