Expect a season of variety as the theme when the Chamber Music Yellow Springs 2015-16 season begins Sunday, Sept. 27.

The lineup will feature four groups with quite different sounds, said Angela Brintlinger, publicity chairwoman of Chamber Music Yellow Springs.

“We’ve invited everyone from prize-winning new ensembles to seasoned professionals and Grammy Award nominees,” said Brintlinger.

Concerts are 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Feb. 21 and March 20. Three will be at First Presbyterian Church and one will be at Yellow Springs United Methodist Church.

The season will end April 24 with the annual ensemble competition.

• Telegraph String Quartet will begin the season Sept. 27 at First Presbyterian. This young group won the grand prize and gold medal at the 2014 International Fischoff Chamber Music Competition.

• Percussion Group Cincinnati will play Oct. 25 at Yellow Springs United Methodist. “We’ve had to change our venue, choosing the pitched seating of United Methodist so that everyone will get a great view of the musicians at work,” said Brintlinger. This is the Group’s third Chamber Music appearance.

• The Grammy Award-nominated Imani Winds will perform on Feb. 21 at First Presbyterian. This is one of the premier wind quartets since its inception in 1997.

• The Zodiac Trio, a violinist, clarinetist and harpist play March 20 at First Presbyterian. Internationally recognized, the Trio mixes contemporary and traditional pieces.

• The Competition for Emerging Professional Ensembles will round out the season on April 24 at First Presbyterian. This features two outstanding professional ensembles with average ages younger than 30 competing in front of judges and the audience.

Each show will be preceded by a preconcert lecture, usually from Charles Larkowski, at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets cost $25 for adults for each concert and $7 for full-time students, and can be purchased in advance at www.cmys.org. Season ticket subscriptions cost $100 or $25 for students for five concerts.

Post-concert dinners with the artists are also offered, and interested people should notify at least four days in advance at 937-374-8800.

Chamber Music Yellow Springs is supported by donors and volunteers in addition to an Ohio Arts Council Sustainability Grant.
