Consider this an early chance to join the one of the biggest anniversary celebrations in Springfield this year.
The first party for the 50th year of the Summer Arts Festival will begin at the Springfield Arts Council’s biggest annual fundraiser, the Salute Gala and Auction, 5 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center.
Food, beverages, entertainment and the chance to bid on unique auction items are among the highlights with numerous references to the Arts Festival.
“It’s a fancy, fun event that people look forward to and this year there will be new items we think our attendees will love,” said Sarah V. Michelson, Springfield Arts Council business manager.
The evening will begin with drinks, including the availability a signature pink Moscato signature drink that commemorates the 50th.
The seated dinner will begin at 6:30, catered by Current Cuisine and will include complementary wine at each table.
“We have a great variety of auction items,” Michelson said. About 40 live and 275 silent auction items will be up for grab.
Several vacation getaways from near — Cincinnati and Cleveland — to a New Year’s Eve experience to vacation homes and experience items such as a gourmet Italian feast to a VIP table at next year’s gala will be among them, along with tickets to Ohio State and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Other special gifts included in the admission price will be a commemorative 50th anniversary crystal wine glass and admission to an afterglow party featuring finger foods and desserts at Mela Urban Bistro following the gala.
Proceeds raised will go to Arts Council programs including the Summer Arts Festival, Arts in the Classroom, Broadway and Beyond and more.
“It’s a worthy cause supporting a local institution celebrating its 50th year and a real showcase of what the Arts Council does,” said Michelson. “We appreciate our donors and hope it’s a good night to celebrate.”
