There’s a game of hide and seek going on in the Springfield Art Museum. “Art” is hiding, and it’s up to kids to find him.
Come Find Art — Art Days for Kids begins 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the museum. There is no cost to participate.
This is interactive fun for parents and kids. The object is to find “Art” among the museum’s objects.
This is a self-guided tour aimed at interest levels of children, from preschool through high school. Stickers placed at various pieces lead the seekers to art objects then to a family conversation about the art.
“It’s about getting families talking about the art,” said Deb Housh, museum educator. “It’s very interactive.”
From there, kids can participate in a hands-on art-making activity about color and value of art. What they learn from the tour will apply directly to the activity.
Housh said the other important part is the option to use the Chakeres Art Lab, with 10 hands-on ongoing activities, which is also open during regular museum hours.
Also from 1-2 p.m. prior to the Come Find Art activity, the museum will offer free guided tours, including the new Ansel Adams photo exhibit.
Sponsorships allow the free admission, the only time the exhibition can be viewed for no cost.
Other Come Find Art Days will be March 30 and April 27. Housh said those will feature different themes and interactive opportunities.
