Vectren buys pipeline contractor company

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Vectren Corp. said it has bought Minnesota Limited Inc., a contractor that specializes in transmission pipeline construction and maintenance, gas distribution, and construction of pump stations and other facilities.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Minnesota Limited, based in Big Lake, Minn., has about 500 employees, had 2010 revenues of $110 million and is licensed to operate in 40 states.

The acquisition will expand Vectren’s operations in the underground construction industry, to serve a growing market for new natural gas pipeline infrastructure, Vectren management said.

Minnesota Limited will join Miller Pipeline, Vectren’s wholly owned subsidiary, in the parent company’s infrastructure services group.

Vectren is the parent company of Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio Inc., a major supplier of natural gas and operator of the Dayton region’s gas distribution network.
