Kroger now selling ‘shareable’ size cans of wine

Kroger is the first retail chain to carry WineSociety’s “shareable” size cans of wine.

WineSociety, co-founded by Cincinnati natives Angela and Austin Allison, sells signature 500-milliliter cans available in Kroger stores in Ohio and Kentucky. The company launched earlier this year and originally sold direct to consumers via subscription on winesociety.com.

It’s another sign that Kroger is investing in its wine selection. Kroger started its soft launch of an online wine shopping and delivery service. Kroger Wine will be available in 13 states across Kroger Co. stores including Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, QFC, Smith’s Food and Drug, Fry’s and City Market.

Customers can order wine sold in six to 12-bottle cases. Prices range from $69.99 to $99.99 f or six bottles and $129.99 to $189.99 for 12 bottles. Shipping is free for orders more than $35.

Specific markets have not been identified yet. Kroger will also have a wine club, where participants can select reds, white or a mix of wines. The cases will be delivered every 13 weeks.
