Tumbleweed spokesman Rick Schardein said the three Dayton-area stores are among eight Tumbleweed restaurants that will cease operations today as the company moves toward a Tex-Mex concept. The only other Ohio Tumbleweed affected by the closings is in suburban Columbus. The eight permanent closings will leave 24 Tumbleweed Tex-Mex Grill & Margarita Bar restaurants for the Louisville-based chain.
Each Tumbleweed restaurant typically employs 50 to 60 people, Schardein said. Tumbleweed will provide references and other assistance to try to help affected employees find other jobs, he said.
Customers with Tumbleweed gift cards can request a refund by calling (866) 856-6167 or going to TellTumbleweed.com, Schardein said.
