How do the Bengals’ draft picks compare to Pro Football Focus rankings?

The Cincinnati Bengals and Pro Football Focus were largely on the same page during last year’s NFL Draft.
In 2018?
Not so much…
Only three of the Bengals’ picks ranked in PFF’s top 100: Ohio State center Billy Price (64th), Ohio State defensive end Sam Hubbard (68) and Western Michigan cornerback Darius Phillips (82).

They chose Price with the 21st pick, 43 spots ahead of where he was ranked, but got Hubbard nine spots lower (at No. 77).

Phillips, meanwhile, looks like a steal as PFF rated him No. 82 overall and he was available at No. 170 in the draft.
Overall, PFF gave the Bengals’ 2018 draft a rating of “average.”
PFF is not the be-all, end-all of rankings, but it is interesting nonetheless — especially since last year the Bengals drafted three of the site’s top 34 players overall.
Those ratings correctly indicated Carl Lawson and Jordan Willis were great values.
This year Bengals fans will want to hope NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock was on point.
Cincinnati picked five players from his top 100: Price (45), Wake Forest safety Jessie Bates (53), Hubbard (57), Texas linebacker Malik Jefferson (77) and Miami (Fla.) running back Mark Walton (86).
