Woods out as Graham’s head football coach

A.J. Woods apparently has resigned as the Graham High School head football coach.

The open Falcons position was posted online. Neither Woods nor Graham athletic director Jay Lewis were available to confirm the departure.

Woods’ leaving the Graham position is at least the third head football coaching change in the Central Buckeye Conference for this coming season.

NEW GRAHAM COACH: A.J. Woods promoted to Falcons head football coach

Previously, longtime Bellefontaine assistant Carleton Cotner was named to succeed Jon Daniels at Urbana. Also John Wooten was promoted to succeed Kevin Ferguson at Greenon, which jumps from the CBC to the Ohio Heritage Conference this fall. Also in the OHC, Greg Bonifay resigned as Southeastern's head coach to succeed Trace Smitherman at Stebbins. Smitherman landed the Xenia head coach position after Bob DeLong resigned after eight seasons.

Woods was Graham’s head coach the last two seasons, going 3-7 in 2015 and 2-8 last season. A Southeastern grad, he was promoted to succeed John Tullis as the Falcons’ head coach.
