5 things to look for this weekend in the NFL

The Bengals are the first winners of the week (even if it wasn’t pretty), but there is lots more NFL action on tap.

Here are the top things to watch around the league.

1. The NFL International Series resumes Sunday morning with Colts-Jaguars from Wembley Stadium in London.

That can only mean one thing: MORNING FOOTBALL! Nothing beats rolling out of bed, flipping on the TV (Channel 7 will have the game in the Miami Valley) and finding football, especially when it is the kind where the players carry the ball and tackle each other rather than just jog around and fall down most of the time.

2. The Browns play at Washington, a 1-2 team desperate with playoff aspirations looking to get back to .500 on the season. This is a head coaching matchup of the last two Bengals offensive coordinators: Hue Jackson is in year one with Cleveland while his predecessor, Jay Gruden, is looking to lead the the Redskins to the postseason for the second consecutive season.

3. Among the late-afternoon games is Dallas at San Francisco. Apart from being a throwback to one of the best rivalries of the 1990s, this game features the last two starting running backs at Ohio State: Carlos Hyde and Ezekiel Elliott. The two have a great relationship, but Hyde told the 49ers team website they won’t be talking before the game.

4. The Sunday night game is Chiefs at Steelers. Pittsburgh will have Le’Veon Bell back in the lineup after the running back began the season with a three-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Princeton High School grad Spencer Ware has 387 yards from scrimmage for the Chiefs, ranking second in the NFL.

5. The league schedule wraps up with the Giants at Minnesota on Monday night. Eli Manning will be gunning for his third 350-yard-plus passing game in a row, but that could be a tall task against Mike Zimmer’s Vikings defense.
