H.S. Results for 1/13/17: Second-half jump start earns Northmont win

Northmont trailed, 8-2, after one quarter Friday, but came back to outdistance Beavercreek, 51-44, in a key Greater Western Ohio Conference boys basketball game.

The Thunderbolts (11-2) rallied to win behind Vinson Walker, who scored 13 of his 17 points after halftime. DaLonte Capers scored 9 of his 11 in the second half. Northmont scored 22 points in the third quarter, 16 in the fourth.

Jon Allesandro led Beavercreek (6-5) with 17. Peyton Young added 14, Cedric Baldwin 10.

Northmont has won four in a row and six of its last seven.

Boys Basketball

Alter 47, Fenwick 41: Dominic Laravie scored 27 points to lead Alter (9-1, 4-0). Fenwick (5-7, 1-3) stayed close behind 10 points from Paul Blodgett, 9 by John Engelmeier.

Ansonia 55, Tri-County North 41: Ansonia evened its season record at 6-6.

Bethel 58, National Trail 53: Bethel (11-1) began the game with a 14-0 run, fell behind in the third quarter, then reclaimed the lead, 54-53, on Caleb South's layup with just over a minute to play. Travis Hunt scored 17 for the Blazers, South 28 for Bethel.

Carlisle 62, Dixie 45: Adam Goodpaster scored 21 as Carlisle improved to 7-4, 5-1.

Centerville 62, Miamisburg 45: Centerville outscored Miamisburg, 20-8, in the second quarter. Keegan Saben led the Elks with 21 points. Jason Hubbard had 13 for Miamisburg.

Dayton Christian 66, Yellow Springs 33: Jake Erlandson and Matt Welker scored 13 each, Ryan Fair 11, as Dayton Christian remained unbeaten (6-0) in the Metro Buckeye Conference.

Delphos St. John's 70, New Knoxville 43: Tim Kreeger and Connor Hallihan scored 15 points each for St. John's.

Fairborn 57, Tippecanoe 45: Jacob Webb scored 13, Shaunn Monroe 12 and Brandon Lilley 10 and KJ Redmon dropped in three 3-point goals during the first quarter of Fairborn's victory.

Fairlawn 52, Botkins 39: Nathan Lessing scored a game-high 25 for Fairlawn.

Fort Recovery 56, New Bremen 38: Micaiah Cox scored 13, Payton Jutte 11, and Caleb Martin pulled down 10 rebounds as Fort Recovery moved to 8-1.

Greeneview 66, West Liberty-Salem 42: Greeneview is 9-2, thanks to 22 points from Ethan Bradds, including five 3-point goals.

Greenville 72, West Carollton 54: Peter Pandey scored 22, Aaron Rich 20 for Greenville.

Lakota East 56, Fairfield 45: Evan Kuhlmann scored 23, Jarett Cox 22 for Lakota East (8-4, 5-2). Andre Givens had 12 for Fairfield (6-4, 2-4).

Lima Temple Christian 64, Hardin Northern 35: Noah Howell scored 18, Ty Callahan 16 for Temple Christian, which led, 19-5, after the first quarter.

Milton-Union 54, Waynesville 53: Solid defense and Caleb Wintrow's 18 points led Milton-Union to a nailbiter victory.

Northridge 57, Madison 51: Grant Whisman scored 25 for Madison (6-7), which sank 12 of 14 free throws.

Oak Hills 59, Lakota West 29: Oak Hills led, 30-8, at halftime. Frank Schmitt topped Lakota West with 10 points.

Oakwood 50, Bellbrook 35: Oakwood (7-5, 3-3) outscored Bellbrook (4-5, 2-4) in every quarter. Brendan Talarczyk scored 14, Andy Neff 12 and Connor Dinkler 10 for Oakwood. Donnie Crouch led Bellbrook with 15 points.

Roger Bacon 63, Badin 45: Roger Bacon led, 15-2, after one quarter and climbed to 10-2 behind Craig McGee's 15 points. Badin (6-5) got 18 points from John Marot.

Russia 43, Houston 33: Russia broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter and is now 11-2.

Spg. Shawnee 59, Greenon 39: Shawnee outscored Greenon, 18-6, in the second quarter.

Stebbins 63, Troy 57: Four players scored in double figures for Stebbins (8-4, 4-3): Jalen Tolbert (14), Tavien Williams (12), Jonathan Mpanzu (10) and Mickael Mayo (10).

St. Henry 58, Minster 39: Blake Hoying shot 7-for-11 from the floor and scored 17 points to go along with six rebounds for St. Henry.

Tri-Village 72, Twin Valley South 42: Gavin Richards led Tri-Village with 25 points. Mike Meyers had 13 for Twin Valley South.

Troy Christian 62, Middletown Christian 37: James Anderson's 20 points and 19 rebounds helped Troy Christian improve to 8-3. Ronin Koeller scored 13 for Middletown Christian (5-5).

Versailles 56, Marion Local 41: Justin Ahrens scored 20 for Versailles, which trailed, 15-13, after one quarter.

Xenia 77, Piqua 75: Xenia's Samari Curtis scored 25, Ricky Williams 20. Ben Schmiesing scored 22 for Piqua.
