NFL suspends Middletown grad, former Buckeye Jalin Marshall

Former Ohio State wide receiver and Middletown High School graduate Jalin Marshall was suspended four games Wednesday for violating the NFL’s drug policy.

According to the New York Daily News, Marshall tested positive for Adderall, a drug used to treat attention deficit hyperactive disorder. The drug has been labeled by the league as a performance enhancing drug.

Marshall reacted to the suspension in a series of posts to his Twitter account.

Marshall played two years at Ohio State after red-shirting his freshman year. He had a memorable game against Indiana in 2014 when he had four touchdowns in a 17 minute span to keep Ohio State’s road to the national title alive after it fell behind an upset-minded Hoosier team in the second half.

Marshall was honorable mention All-Big Ten starting 11 games as as sophomore, playing in 12. He was second on the team with 36 catches for 477 yards and five touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns. He was third in the conference in punt return average and had five catches for 29 yards in a win over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

He played in 10 games with the Jets his rookie season as a punt and kick returner. He had 14 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver.
