Bengals add linebacker to 53-man roster

With linebacker Vontaze Burfict still dealing with concussion symptoms and ruled out for Saturday night’s game in Houston, the Cincinnati Bengals activated P.J. Dawson from the practice squad Friday.

A third-round pick out of TCU in 2015, Dawson appeared in 11 games as a rookie, but the coaches grew frustrated with Dawson during training camp, leading to him being released on final cutdown day.

The Bengals re-signed Dawson to the practice squad, where he has remained all season.

Most of his playing time came on special teams last year. With Burfict out, Dawson could be active vs. the Texans.
