Theft ring leader’s resentencing goes to state court

Prosecutors are appealing the state’s decision to allow the resentencing of the leader of a large burglary ring.

Jordan Beverly, of Clark County, is serving a 66-year sentence for stealing vehicles, ransacking homes and leading a police chase. During a hearing Wednesday morning, it was decided the state’s decision will go to the Ohio Supreme Court.

The option for resentencing is expected to be approved or denied by the end of May.

Beverly was convicted in August 2011. A co-defendant of Beverly’s, Brandon Ember, is serving 13.5 years in prison for his role in the crimes.
