Sinclair College president to discuss future plans today

Sinclair Community College’s president will give a “state of the college” speech at 4 p.m. today in the Smith Auditorium of Building 12 at the school’s downtown campus.

President Steve Johnson is expected to talk about Sinclair’s largest graduating class, how the community college is working to fill jobs in the Dayton region and how the school is impacting the economy and community.

Sinclair’s downtown campus is preparing to go through something of a transformation throughout the next three years.

The college intends to invest $80 million to $90 million to increase parking, build a campus gateway, new pedestrian pathways and building upgrades, among other improvements.

Sinclair’s board of trustees recently approved a student fee increase that will generate around another $1.6 million in revenue for the school. The fee bump is expected to help pay for some parking improvements and streamlined math assistance to students.
