Extreme cold, heat and bus issues lead to school closings, delays


Several dozen schools across the region announced closings and delays for Wednesday amid extreme cold conditions.

Fairborn City Schools cited several reasons for closing on Wednesday on its website, including some frozen pipes as well as heating and bus issues in the district.

Incarnation Catholic School in Washington Twp. closed for Wednesday after a water main break Tuesday near the school. The main will be fixed first thing in the morning, according to the Montgomery County Environmental Services department.

Anna Local Schools also are closed, as well as City Day Community School; Evangel Academy; Jefferson Township Local Schools; Life Skills High School; Mother Brunner School; Nightingale Montessori School; Our Lady of the Rosary School in Dayton; St. Anthony Elementary School; Sidney City Schools; Sidney Holy Angels; and STEAM Academy of Dayton.

Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools was closed Tuesday but will be on a two-hour delay on Wednesday.

Other schools delayed two hours include: Ansonia Local School; Arcanum-Butler Local Schools; Beavercreek City Schools; Bradford Schools; Brookville Local Schools; Cedar Cliff Local Schools; Covington Village Schools; Dayton Islamic School; East Dayton Christian Schools; Eaton Community School; Fairlawn Local Schools; Fort Loramie Local Schools; Franklin Monroe Local Schools; Germantown Christian Schools; Graham Local Schools; Greenon Local Schools; Greenville City Schools; Mad River Local Schools; Miami East Local Schools; Middletown Christian Schools; Milton Union Schools; Minster Local Schools; Mississinawa Valley Local Schools; National Trail Local Schools; New Bremen Local Schools; New Knoxville Local Schools; Newton Local Schools; Northmont City Schools; Northwestern Local Schools; Piqua City Schools; Preble Shawnee Local Schools; St. Henry Local Schools; Shawnee Local Schools; Southeastern Local Schools; Springfield City Schools; Tipp City Schools; Tri-Village Schools; Trotwood-Madison Schools; Troy City Schools; Triad Local Schools; Urbana City Schools; Valley View Local Schools; Versailles Village Schools; West Liberty-Salem Local Schools; Xenia Community Schools; and Yellow Springs Schools.

Russia Local School District is on a one-hour delay.
