Clark County motorcycle club raising money for cancer patient

Members of a Clark County group are planning to use their love of riding motorcycles to help bring relief to a Springfield cancer patient.

Longriders MC took the classic biker event, known as a Poker Run, and created a biker scavenger hunt. The event’s purpose is to raise funds for an individual within the community and to also transform the image of bikers, club members said.

The scavenger hunt consists of receiving clues and then traveling to destinations throughout Springfield and the surrounding areas, including Yellow Springs, Urbana and Mechanisburg.

This year they chose Springfield native Amber Moore, who was diagnosed with inoperable stage 3 lung cancer. Amber has continued to work, while receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments, all while having a partially-collapsed lung.

Moore was dealt another blow when her husband, Nathan, was seriously injured and has unable to return to work.

“I am very happy and so thankful that they are doing this for me,” she said.

This is the second year for the event; last year’s donations went to assist a young girl with epilepsy.

Longriders MC members will host their second annual Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Aug. 6, beginning at 10 a.m. at their clubhouse on 2010 Rebert Pike. There is also a GoFundMe page for additional donations in honor of Amber Moore and her family.
