Springfield man charged with allegedly abducting woman

A Springfield man is facing multiple charges after allegedly abducted a woman he knows last month.

Brandon M. Chapman, 21, plead not guilty in the Clark County Municipal Court on Thursday morning to charges of abduction, domestic violence and violating a protection order. Bond was set at $50,000.

Springfield Police Division officers responded to a report of a woman being held against her will at a home in the 11oo block of Lagonda Avenue on Oct. 13. The victim told police she stayed at the home on Monday evening after Chapman allegedly threatened to never let her see their child again, according to a police report.

Chapman allegedly became angry in the morning as the victim asked for him to find her a ride home. He allegedly kept the victim from leaving multiple times from both the front door and windows, injuring both her arms and her wrist, the report said. He also kept both his mother, the child and the victim locked in a bathroom, the victim told police.

Chapman eventually let the victim out of the home and she later pressed charges. He was arrested at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
