Shots fired at SUV in parking lot of Springfield bar

An SUV was damaged after shots were fired outside of an east side bar in Springfield early Sunday morning.

A group of people were in an SUV getting ready to leave the Wagon Wheel bar, 1005 S. Burnett Road, at about 2:45 a.m. when an unknown vehicle entered the parking lot and allegedly fired four shots at the victim’s car, according to a police report.

The witnesses laid down in the car for protection, the report said. Another witness told police the vehicle fired two rounds of shots before it left the parking lot.

The victim’s driver side window was shattered and was also damaged by two other bullet holes.

Nine shell casings from a 9MM were recovered from the scene as evidence, including four on the north side of the parking lot and five on the south side, according to a police report.

None of the victim’s wanted to file a report, police said. The report was filed to document the damage to the victim’s car, it said.

No one was injured in the incident, the report said.
