Worker injures fingers in plant accident

One person was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital on Wednesday after an accident at a Moorefield Twp. manufacturing plant.

Shortly before 9 a.m., emergency crews responded to K. Wm. Beach Manufacturing in the 4600 block of Urbana Road. Fire officials said a man in his 20s lacerated four fingers on his right hand in a cutting machine.

Another employee put a tourniquet on the victim and was able to stop the bleeding, officials said. The four fingers were recovered in hopes that doctors would be able to reattach them to the victim’s hand. STAFF REPORT

Man shoots self in leg

A 56-year-old Springfield man shot himself in the leg by accident Sunday morning.

According to a Springfield police report, the man had a handgun in his front pants pocket and, when he went to retrieve some keys that were in the same pocket, the keys snagged the trigger and the gun went off.

He was transported by a family member to a Dayton hospital for treatment. No charges were filed. STAFF REPORT

Thefts

• A medical device, phone charger and Vietnam currency, valued at $900, was reported stolen between 1 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday from a vehicle in the 400 block of East Main Street, Springfield.

• A hammock, power equipment, a toolbox and tools, a stereo and a bicycle, valued at nearly $1,760, were reported stolen between 7 p.m. Monday and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday from a shed in the 1000 block of Garfield Avenue, Springfield.

• A tool box and tools, valued at $500, were reported stolen Sept. 5 during a home burglary in the 20 block of East Clark Street, Springfield. STAFF REPORTS
