Breaking: LAX airport shooting in Los Angeles

Our CBS affiliate in Los Angeles is reporting that Los Angeles Airport Police confirmed to them a shooting took place in Terminal 3 at LAX.

NOTE: For continuous updates on this situation, please click on this Associated Press story.

A gunman with a high-powered rifle was reportedly shot and secured by law enforcement personnel, according to CBS2's Mike Case. CBS2 could not confirm reports that a TSA employee was also shot in the leg.

There are additional unconfirmed reports on social media that the gunman is down and that two people were shot by the gunman.

Terminal 3 was evacuated and cordoned off and arrival and departure roads to the airport were closed. Passenger Robert Perez told CBS2 that TSA agents came through the terminal and yelled that a man had a gun.

"I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground," Perez said. Arial shots from Sky2 showed buses were transporting passengers that had disembarked from planes onto the runway area.

We'll continue breaking details as they become available.
