Bicyclist struck in Springfield


A bicyclist was injured today after he was struck by a vehicle.

Shortly before 11 a.m. today, the bicyclist was struck as he was crossing West Columbia at North Plum Street, about 500 yards away from Springfield Regional Medical Center. The victim suffered a head injury and scrapes, according to those at the scene. An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital.

He was alert and talking to paramedics when they arrived, according to reports.
