Bank president turnover in the region

Two new area bank presidents have been named in as many days.

Cincinnati-based First Financial Bancorp said Monday it has named Dan Kane president of the Dayton-Middletown market. No formal announcement was made, nor reason given for former president Roger Furrer’s departure.

Then on Tuesday, Columbus-based Huntington Bancshares Inc. named a new president for the region including Cincinnati, Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Springfield. Kevin Jones was named interim southern Ohio/Kentucky president for Huntington, succeeding Mark Reitzes, who left “Huntington to pursue other interests,” Huntington said.

Ron Cloyd, Huntington community president for Dayton and Springfield, will work closely with Jones, according to Huntington.

Ron Amos, the Dayton-area market president for U.S. Bancorp for 18 years, said, “The tenures in those positions are not always that long. The job changes every week.”

Other recent changes in area bank leadership include:

• On July 22, Newark-based Park National announced that David Trautman would succeed C. Daniel DeLawder as the company’s chief executive officer as part of a succession plan. Trautman, currently president, becomes president and CEO Jan. 1. DeLawder will continue as chairman.

• Joey Williams, a Dayton city commissioner, was previously Dayton city president and commercial banking manager for JPMorgan Chase & Co. In February, Williams was named market executive for RBS Citizens Financial Group Inc.’s middle market banking group in central and southern Ohio. Kevin Ward, president of Chase’s southwest Ohio market, is managing the middle market business lending group for Dayton and Cincinnati.

• KeyCorp named Oct. 23, 2012, a new Southwest Ohio district president, Thomas Schlehuber, to succeed Ed Reilly, who retired Aug. 1 last year. Schlehuber came from Indiana, where he was a senior vice president for KeyBank.

After this newspaper learned that Schlehuber planned to live in Cincinnati, KeyBank in November 2012 promoted Pat McDonald to the role of Dayton market president. Reilly lived in the Dayton area as district president.

McDonald heads KeyBank’s Private Bank team in the Cincinnati-Dayton region. She now reports to Schlehuber and continues to lead the private bank division.
