Background/overview

Felix Guerra III was born in San Antonio, Texas. He says he is of 100 percent Mexican descent. Sept. 16 marks the annual Independence Day of Mexico. Felix Guerra in Spanish is “Happy Warrior.” His father, Felix II, was a career serviceman in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, World War II and the Vietnam War; earning a Bronze Star with Gold Cluster from his deployment in Vietnam. His mother, Carmen, was a devoted homemaker.

In 1968, Felix took a train to West Alexandria, Ohio (in Preble County), to visit his sister. He decided to reside in Clayton, in Montgomery County. He and wife, Vicki, have three adult children and six grandchildren. He retired in 2012 from Gordon Food Service.

In autumn 2011 Felix was also active in real estate and knew Murphy’s Irish Pub was slated for auction. He impulsively attended the auction feeling the price would be out of his reach. He unexpectedly raised his hand twice to bid and won the sale.

Since 2015 there has been time-consuming construction surrounding the building and major renovations “his way” inside the restaurant to prepare for this new venture. Shelley Kenbeek is the manager. Opening day was Jan. 13, 2016, at Guerra’s Krazy Taco.

Felix buys his products locally and grows his own herbs and peppers on the premises. All the tacos are soft tortillas with flavors of “Ole San Antonio.” Guerra’s Krazy Taco recently celebrated its 15,000th taco sale. He underlines, “We cook in small batches to ensure bold flavor in our tacos. Fresh is the most important item on the menu.”
