Dining deals during Summer Restaurant Week

The seven days that many Miami Valley foodies have been eagerly awaiting for months is almost here.

The Miami Valley Restaurant Association’s Summer Restaurant Week kicks off Sunday at participating restaurants and wraps up Aug. 4.

“People are looking forward to it,” said Amy Zahora, the MVRA’s executive director. “Some people plan their whole week (around it). It is a big deal.”

Zahora said there is much to look forward to with this event, including several new participating restaurants.

They include The Deli at Top of the Market, Crazy Mango Bar and Bistro and recently opened Twisted Root Restaurant, Lily’s Bistro, Charleston BBQ and Salar Restaurant and Lounge.

“It really is a way to go out and try out some nicer restaurants at a good price. Plus you are giving back to charity,” Zahora said.

A dollar from each meal purchased will benefit the Cancer Support community of Western Ohio and MVRA’s scholarship program. MVRA has donated nearly $50,000 to charities due to the restaurant week efforts the past two years, Zahora noted.

Three-course meals and meal deals will be sold for $20.13, $25.13 and $30.13.

Zahora said more restaurants are offering meals at each of the three price points, a shift from prior years when most offered only one price point.

“Some places are offering meal deals for two at that price,” Zahora said.

She said several restaurants — Coco’s Bistro, Meadowlark, Hawthorn Grill and Salar among them — are expected to offer special summertime dishes.

Enough of the taking. Let’s get down to the grub. Participating restaurants are listed below by county and community.
