Morning show host leaving station

WYSO 91.3 FM news director and “Morning Edition” host Emily McCord will leave the station in mid-July.

She has been fantastic,” said Neenah Ellis, general manager of the NPR affiliate. “She’s just grown and flourished in the job. It is going to be hard to replace her.”

McCord will lead the news team at WFDD in Winston-Salem, N.C. She hails from that state.

“It’s a terrific opportunity and homecoming for me and my family,” McCord said in a statement. “But it will be very hard to say goodbye to my friends and colleagues at WYSO and in the Miami Valley. It’s been a true privilege to work here and be a part of this community.”

The graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro has worked for WYSO for seven years.

McCord and her husband, Adam, are expecting their second child.
