Renovating Ohio's shooting ranges

Reporting by Josh Sweigart | Map by Kyle Nagel

Flush with funds from skyrocketing gun sales, the Ohio Division of Wildlife plans to spend up to $20 million over the next half decade renovating 13 shooting ranges across the state and adding two archery ranges in Highland and Mahoning counties.

The money comes from a special sales tax on guns and ammo that is expected to bring a record $11.3 million into Ohio this year. Part of it must be used for shooting range improvements and hunter education under the federal law that created the tax.
