Facebook to build $750 million data center near Columbus


Social media giant Facebook has plans to develop a $750 million data center in New Albany near Columbus, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

The California-based company is expected to announce plans for the project next week, The Columbus Dispatch reported. A company identified as Sidecat received approval for state tax incentives in late July for the project, and the data center is expected to open in 2022.

Facebook also recently announced plans to build a data center in New Mexico that will span an area equal to the size of 17 football fields. Facebook broke ground on the first building in October, and it’s expected to open in late 2018.
