Discount airline adds service to warm weather spots at regional airport


Low-cost air carrier Spirit Airlines will add service to John Glenn Columbus International Airport, bringing more cheap flights to the area before spring break.

The discount carrier will start service at the Columbus airport on Feb. 15, 2018, with new nonstop service to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Tampa and Fort Myers. New seasonal service to New Orleans and Myrtle Beach will start on March 22, 2018, providing Columbus with a total of seven new routes.

“We are excited to bring our ultra-low fares to Columbus just in time for spring break, connecting central Ohio to some of Spirit’s top vacation destinations,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines vice president of network planning.

Spirit does not service the Dayton International Airport or the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Spirit operates at more than 450 daily flights to 60 destinations in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.
