Dry, cold overnight: High Wind Watch in effect for Thursday

Any lingering showers tonight are expected to end by midnight.

Overnight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 30 degrees after today’s high reached 57 degrees in Dayton and Cincinnati, and 58 degrees in Columbus, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 50 degrees. Showers are likely late Wednesday night, mostly in the overnight hours, when it will be breezy and cloudy with a low of 44 degrees.

It will be much warmer for Thursday, with a high in the low 60s and showers before 2 p.m.

A High Wind Watch takes effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected with gusts up to 60 mph. Damaging winds could blow down trees and branches along with power lines, causing widespread power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, the NWS said.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 37 degrees. Winds overnight will decrease to 9 to 14 mph but gusts as high as 43 mph are possible.

Friday will be partly sunny with a chance of rain after 2 p.m. It will be much cooler but still above normal with a high temperature near 49 degrees. There is a chance of rain Friday night, which will taper off in the early overnight hours. The overnight low will be around 29 degrees.

Saturday will be dry and partly sunny, with more seasonable temperatures. The high will be around 40 degrees with the overnight low in the mid-20s.
