Sunshine, mild temps make for great weekend of swimming

Sunshine and warm temperatures will stick with us throughout the weekend. Although slightly below normal, highs will reach into the upper 70s to low 80s. There is one danger that comes along with the mostly sunny skies, and that's a very high UV index. It is suggested to wear sunblock of SPF 30 or high, and reapply several times throughout the day.

If you're planning to visit any local lakes in the Miami Valley, there are a couple that have advisories posted due to bacteria contamination and algae bloom.

Grand Lake St. Marys has an Elevated Recreational Public Health Advisory due to E. Coli contamination. Officials have deemed the lake unsafe and all contact with water should be avoided.

Warnings have been posted at Kiser Lake due to algae bloom. A Recreational Public Health Advisory is in place there and swimming and wading is not recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women, those with medical conditions and pets.
