Earlier Saturday, wind gusts of more than 50 mph were reported in some areas, including a gust of 54 mph recorded at the Dayton International Airport.
Tonight, wind will continue to create blowing and drifting snow, especially in areas near open fields, resulting in reduced visibility at times.
“Our focus now shifts to the dangerously cold wind chills later tonight through Monday morning,” Vrydaghs said.
The National Weather Service has issued wind chill advisories and warnings across the region.
A wind chill warning will be in effect from 9 p.m. through 9 a.m. Sunday for Greene, Miami, Clark, Darke Champaign, Shelby, Augliaze, Logan and Mercer counties.

Wind chill warnings are not issued too often because the criteria is to have chills 25 below zero or colder with winds of at least 10 mph. Hypothermia and frostbite in conditions this extreme can develop quicker, Vrydaghs said.
Limiting time outdoors and dressing appropriately is strongly suggested over the next 36 hours.

More clouds arrive into Sunday night. Temperatures will hover around zero with wind chills holding below zero into Monday morning. Icy spots are still possible from leftover snowfall. It won't be as windy as Saturday, but there will be enough for blowing and drifting snow at times.
Monday: A frigid start to the day is expected. Temperatures climb into the teens with a few spots hitting 20 degrees. Any light breeze will make it feel colder. It will remain dry with clouds and some sun.
Tuesday: It will be partly sunny and cold with highs in the upper 20s. Scattered light snow showers may develop in the evening and overnight.
Wednesday: The day starts in the single digits with highs reaching the teens. It will be cloudy, breezy and colder with some passing snow showers. Wind chills will be below zero and in the single digits at times.
Thursday: Partly sunny skies are expected on this breezy and frigid day that starts near zero. Highs will reach the low teens with wind chills below zero and in the single digits.
