5 most recent tornadoes in Clark and Champaign County

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado caused damage in Clark County near Enon during yesterday’s storms. A team of NWS meteorologists surveyed the damage that was north and west of Enon and determined there were two areas of EF0 tornadic damage.

The EF-Scale is used by the NWS to measure the strength of a tornado based off of wind damage.

An EF rating of 0 indicates an estimation of 65-85 mph wind speeds, while a rating of 1 indicates 86-110 mph winds speeds.

Clark and Champaign Counties have experienced 13 tornadoes since 1990.

Below are the five most recent:

March 2, 2015, Clark County: A EF0 tornado touched down nearly 10 miles east of Tipp City and moved south for 0.13 miles. It damaged trees and caused damage to an outbuilding along Addison-New Carlisle Road.

July 27, 2014, Champaign County: A EF0 tornado touched down along U.S. Route 36 at 2:29 p.m. and primarily caused damage to two properties. The most substantial damage occurred to a double wide home that lost half of its roof.

May 23, 2011, Clark County: A EF1 tornado touched down less than 2,000 feet from Kenton Ridge High School. The tornado's path was less than half a mile.

March 27, 2011, Clark County: A EF0 tornado touched down outside of New Carlisle Cemetery and moved north west just missing the city of New Carlisle. The tornado traveled 1.31 miles and has a width of 200 yards.

May 8, 2008, Clark County: A EF0 touched down at 4:13 p.m. just north of State Route 42 and traveled less than 1,000 feet.
