It will be a sunny and dry start to the week today with the next chance for rain on Christmas Eve.

Temperatures will be a little warmer today than usual today, with highs reaching around 43 degrees under mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

However, lows Monday night are still expected to be below freezing, at around 25 degrees.

Tuesday will be a near-repeat of Monday, with highs around 44 degrees and a low around 28.

Wednesday will be about six to eight degrees cooler to start, according to NWS. Temperatures will eventually climb above freezing and settle in the mid 30s. However, Thursday will warm up a little, with highs back in the mid 40s.

A warm front will develop on Christmas Eve Friday with temperatures expected to reach the low to mid 50s. Rain could develop with the warm front earlier Friday and then taper out, but more rain is forecasted for Friday night as a cold front pushes through, according to NWS.
