Nearly six months ago the Miami Valley was rocked by a major tornado outbreak. On Memorial Day, 15 tornadoes touched down in the Miami Valley devastating communities north and south of I-70. One of the strongest, an EF-4 twister, destroyed neighborhoods on a path that traveled from Brookville to Riverside.

These communities, along with many others impacted that day are still rebuilding. Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs along with Dayton Daily News Reporters Josh Sweigart and Chris Stewart decided to walk the nearly 20-mile path to see firsthand how these people are doing and share their stories of survival.

Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini sat down with the three this week to talk about their special series that will air on WHIO-TV November 25-27 starting at 5 p.m. The three talked about how this story impacted their lives, the resilience of the community and how you can help this holiday season. They shared insight into some of the men and women still getting their lives back after that devastating day.
