April Fools weather: Near-record low temperatures, chance of snow today

Today we will see a chance of snow and unseasonably cold temperatures as much as 20 degrees below normal, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

There will be a slight chance of snow starting well before dawn and continuing through the day. A chance of rain will mix in during the afternoon as temperatures rise to highs near 39 degrees.

It will also be a breezy day, with sustained winds up to 17 mph and gusts as high as 29 mph.

Precipitation chances will end a bit before dark, after which skies will clear as temperatures drop down to around 22 degrees.

Temperatures will be a little warmer on Friday, though highs will only reach up to around 46 degrees under sunny skies.

Friday night will again fall below freezing, to a low around 29 degrees.

Saturday will be breezy and partly cloudy, though temperatures will be much warmer, to a high near 60 degrees, falling to around 42 degrees at night.
