Wright State hammers Detroit for sixth win in seven games

Loudon Love had 17 points and eight rebounds, and Mark Hughes scored 12 points on four 3-pointers as Wright State knocked off Detroit, 83-60, at the Nutter Center on Saturday for its sixth win in its last seven games.

Malachi Smith and Skyelar Potter had 13 each off the bench. It was Smith’s second straight double-figure game after notching only two in the first 24 outings. Potter had scored only five in his previous three games.

Parker Ernsthausen chipped in nine points — his most since scoring 11 at Mississippi State on Dec. 22 — and had a career-high six assists and five rebounds.

The Raiders held freshman sensation Antoine Davis, the nation’s second-leading scorer with a 27.1 average, to 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting.

Attendance was 5,045, the second-largest crowd of the season.

The Raiders improved to 15-11 overall and 9-4 in the Horizon League. Detroit has lost five of six to fall to 9-16, 6-7.

First-place Northern Kentucky (19-6, 9-3) visits the Nutter Center at 9 p.m. Friday in a game that will be televised on ESPNU
