Springfield man accused of accelerating to push car 300 feet in road rage incident

Was Hue Jackson overruled in the Browns’ draft room?

One NFL reporter seemed to indicate Hue Jackson may not have as much power as he’d like in the Browns’ decision making.

Mike Silver, an NFL Network analyst and University of California graduate (where Jackson attended), suggested the head coach didn’t get his preferred quarterback last April.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller chimed in, saying Jackson wanted Mitchell Trubisky, who flashed in his first start of the season with Chicago on Monday night.

The latches are coming unhinged due to Jackson’s decision to bench second-round rookie DeShone Kizer. Kizer has massively struggled in the NFL and was replaced by Kevin Hogan at halftime on Sunday.

Even if Jackson wanted Trubisky, it’s hard to see how he could’ve gotten him. The team was locked into Myles Garrett at No. 1. Trubisky went with the next pick. While the team had the 12th pick, it would’ve costed a bounty to jump up to No. 2. Plus, the 49ers – who traded the second pick to Chicago – wanted Soloman Thomas, who they could’ve have taken at No. 12.

It’s too early to call Kizer a bust, and even if he didn’t want him, it’s Jackson’s job to develop him. But if what is being reported is true, the larger issues lie in the upper ranks of the front office.
