Social media reacts to Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer’s suspension

Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer has been suspended three games as a result of an independent investigation finding he “did not exhibit the kind of leadership and high standards,” the university announced Wednesday night.

The news came after an all-day meeting of the school’s board of trustees.

Meyer was placed on paid administrative leave after a report he knew of allegations then-assistant coach Zach Smith abused his wife, Courtney. Zach Smith ultimately was fired July 23 and Meyer placed on adminstrative leave on Aug. 1.

Meyer will miss home games vs. Oregon State on Sept. 1 and Rutgers on Sept. 8 and a neutral site game vs. TCU in Dallas on Sept. 15.

Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith also will serve a suspension from Aug. 31-Sept. 16.
