Springfield’s Eaton clutch again as Nationals force Game 7 in World Series

“We don't have anything to lose,” Eaton said before Game 6. “Let's be around each other one more day. Let's win another ball game and earn another spot to hopefully have a Game 7, which would be pretty remarkable and exciting for all of us in this room as well as in the clubhouses. I think it's just a pride thing, and we're proud to be here and I think we deserve to be here. We're going to put our best foot forward.”

Eaton, a 2007 Kenton Ridge graduate who played three seasons for the Miami RedHawks, went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, a walk and was hit by a pitch. He also laid down a sacrifice bunt to help Washington score its first run in the first inning.

Eaton’s home run to right against Justin Verlander tied the game at 2-2. Juan Soto hit a home run two batters later to give the Nationals the lead.

Eaton leads Nationals starters with a .333 average in the World Series. He’s tied for the team lead with seven runs scored and has driven in four runs. He has two home runs.
