“Based on the information I have available to me at this time, I have decided to suspend Danny Davis for the first two games of the season,” Chryst said. “Should further information become available that warrants a reevaluation of the length of the suspension, I will assess that information. We have a high standard of conduct within our football program and we cannot accept behavior that is not consistent with that standard.”
The Wisconsin State Journal reported Davis' punishment is a result of his alleged involvement in an incident that has led to the suspension of Wisconsin receiver Quintez Cephus.
Per the paper:
Davis' roommate, Badgers junior wide receiver Quintez Cephus, was charged Monday with second- and third-degree sexual assault of two intoxicated women. According to a criminal complaint, Davis allegedly laughed and took photos of the women.
Cephus was Wisconsin’s top receiver last season before suffering a season-ending injury.
Davis moved into a larger role after Cephus went down.
The former Wildcat ended up with 418 yards on 26 catches as a freshman.

He was the GWOC National East Offensive Player of the Year as senior in 2016 when he rushed for 1,195 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught 22 passes for 559 yards and six more scores for the Wildcats.
Davis was an even better basketball player, finishing as the district's all-time leading scorer with 1,774 points.
